London Crowned World’s Best Culinary City

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The city of London has been named the best culinary city in the world for 2026 by TripAdvisor. The capital of England tops the list in the Travellers’ Choice Awards.

The Travellers’ Choice Awards considered eight million online reviews last year to compile this list. The Best of the Best Travellers’ Choice Awards celebrate the highest level of excellence in travel.

It’s awarded to those who receive a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinions from the Tripadvisor community over a 12-month period. Out of our 8 million listings, fewer than 1% achieve this milestone,” wrote Tripadvisor on its site.

Tripadvisor sees London as a world in one city. From the confident style of Shoreditch to the punk atmosphere of Camden to the chic vibe of Portobello Road, London is a world unto itself. The city’s energy means that no two days are the same.

Explore royal or historic sites, tick off landmarks from your bucket list, eat and drink in exclusive Michelin-starred restaurants, enjoy a pint in a traditional pub, or get lost down winding cobbled streets and see what you stumble across – when it comes to London, the possibilities are endless,” they said.

As a culinary city, London is home to many acclaimed restaurants, some of which are considered the best in the world. Recently, three-Michelin-starred chef Sergio Herman opened Frites Atelier in the city, which is known for serving “the best fries in the world.”

At this Dutch restaurant chain, visitors can choose from a menu full of delicious options centered around fries.

Meanwhile, the best pizza in the world can be found on Baker Street and in Soho, at L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele. London also excels in burgers. Bleecker Burger and Black Bear Burger, respectively, ranked second and third in the World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants awards. Both restaurants have various branches throughout the capital.

In addition, seven London restaurants made it to the top 1,000 best restaurants in the world according to La Liste. These restaurants are Core by Clare Smyth, The Ritz, Hlne Darroze at The Connaught, Gordon Ramsay London, Sushi Kanesaka, Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester, and Brooklands by Claude Bosi.

Top Culinary Cities in the World

London surpassed Dubai, which is in the second position, and Rome, in the third position, in this ranking. Meanwhile, Hong Kong, renowned for Pan-Asian cuisine, is in the fourth position. Paris, one of the cities with the most Michelin stars in the world, completes the top five.

Majorca is in the sixth position, followed by Doha, Qatar, in the seventh position, Crete in the eighth position, Bangkok in the ninth position, and Marrakech in the tenth position as the best culinary cities in the world.
